Probably a dumb question, but why do so many TS girls have the star tatoo on their shoulder,or elswhere? What's the significance of it? Thanks.

It's not a TS thing as far as I know, it's a general trend

its a nautical star. it started with sailors

Nautical Star Tattoo - The origin of the nautical star, like many other maritime or old-school tattoos, is shrouded in the salty mists of time. However, unlike many others, there are some long-standing connections between the five-pointed-star symbol and nautical endeavors. Of all the stars in the night sky that are used navigation, it is Polaris, also known as the North Star, that is relived upon the most. Because it seems to hover at a point directly over the North Pole, it appears to us as stationary, with the other stars revolving around it as they move on their nightly journey. Its fixed position in the sky makes it a key reference point for navigation. In fact, in nautical charts today, the position of north (or zero degrees) on a compass rose is marked with a five-pointed star. Even the compass rose itself is sometimes a combination of stars, superimposed one on top of the other. While other maritime tattoo symbols find their inspiration in different ports of call or are used to commemorate the voyage and its perils, the nautical star is a much more hopeful symbol of being able to find one's way. By extension, it has also been used specifically as a symbol of the return home and sometimes the luck that is needed to reach that destination

Well, it's about distinguishing oneself from the herd. Why put a barbwire tattoo around one's arm or an everyday run-of-the-mill tramp stamp on one's lower back when one can express their respective individuality, specialness, and uniqueness to the world with a star on their shoulder -- like thousands of other girls.

:)

Anymore wax around for the rest of my sarcasm?

I always wondered what meaning that star had. I often see it on brazilian t-girls and mostly on the left arm/shoulder.

Don't know if this is relevant, but I notice (from my military days) that this star is common on Italian Army and Police uniforms, such as the collar patches on this example, notice that it is the same star with the bold shading seen tatted on many TS, as shown above in earlier post....

Pretty sure it was the topic of a thread sometime last year, but good luck finding it! I think the original poster has seen a lot of Brazilian TS girls, who have the common star tattoo. Why they have it, I don't know. Here's Kalena Rios:

It is actually a gang sign. I am surprised you didn't know that. Ask Seanchai - for real.

Those are all nautical stars. But there are all kinds. And, as Vicki mentioned, there are other meaning behind the wide variety of five pointed figures.

Now this is not a nautical star...

Reminds of this old classic...
A young man truly in love with his girlfriend decided to have her name tattooed on his penis, her name was Wendy, and the tattoo was done while the penis was erect, so when it was not erect all you could see was W Y. Shortly after the couple was married and they were honeymooning in Jamaica, the man was in a bathroom in Jamaica, and standing next to him was a Jamaican man who also had a W Y on his penis.

The American said to him "Oh is your girl named Wendy too?"

The Jamaican replied, "No, Mon that says, 'Welcome To Jamaica Have a Nice Day'".
