There are rumors posted about AVN going out of business. For years, I have viewed the AVN as the axis of evil for the adult industry... and not good evil, like HungDevils.
The show was apparently bought out a few years ago, but still has it's named attached to the parent product. The magazine continues to suck. The reviews continue to suck. The awards continue to be biased toward their dominant advertisers who have sick worthless arcrylic cravings. If they finally go out of business, I feel it would be very good for the adult industry. They basically kill the little guys in porn. I think porn needs a viewers choice type of award where the viewers vote. -------------------- |

Being thats its an awards show,,,I cant see how it would hurt the industry if it fails,,,I just see some other name sponsoring the event in the future,,,Like The Citi Bank awards,,Or something like that.
Plus i think your rite,,,It would help them to restructure the event,,give it new rules for choosing an award recipient. It could be a good thing. |

I would not be totally surprised if AVN went under I have said this on numerous occasions my magazine issues seems to be getting thinner by the month.As for myself I have been reading AVN since 1985 when it was being published out of Upper Darby Pennsylvania the publication has since moved to North Hollywood California.There were always the two issue to look forward to and that was the January,because it was the beginning of the year and it was a rather big issue in volume and the other issue to look forward to was the March issue because that is when all the awards were announced.This year the two issue were nothing all that special this year they were just like any other issue it was a bit of a let down and I was somewhat disappointed.I do remember a while back that Robert Black and his company Extreme And Associates(no longer in business) were banned from AVN,for complaining about the cost for a full page ad was fifteen hundred dollars and when it came to handing out awards Vivid had an unfair advantage the award for best film(no longer a category) should be renamed the Paul Thomas Award.After all AVN and Vivid are tied together.

Hmm, many folks on here know more about this than me, but I also feel like AVN is bad for the industry, gives lopsided coverage to the companies that advertise most in there, and is just another old industry dinosaur. All this self congratulatory bullshit should cease. How long has the "recession proof" industry that is porn been in a downturn? Too many top dog production companies pushing an inferior product, and too much AVN patting them on the back and saying how great things are. Let it die.

Wouldnt it make sense to have an outside group determine who gets awards ,,,Versus industry insiders or advertisers.
Maybe we should do a HungDevils award show to show them how it should be done. |
