A "trans friend" of mine offered to "help me out" in transitioning with her estrogen for a "fee".
Here is the deal I have hypertension and my "doctor won't write a scrip for estrogen or blockers because of a stroke risk". I really want to start transitioning, but how risky someone else's estrogen? I feel that it is not that big of a deal because her shots/pills come from a doctor not the street. What are your thoughts? Jamie Erika The question you have to ask yourself is this, Is transition worth dying for or worth becoming disabled through a stroke or heart attack? If you feel it is worth those risk then go ahead and start HRT. However you don't have to get meds through a friend for a fee. You can order them online without a prescription. There's no more risk using it off the internet then there is getting it through your friend. Do your research, start slow, and if you can afford a doctor to monitor your health, and find one that will do so without hang ups about what you're doing then by all means do that as well. The only reason you would want to choose the method you mentioned is if the friend can give you a better price then what you can find online. Given that she sounds like she is trying to make a middleman markup off it, I find that to be an unlikely concept. Ultimately you have to answer the question of whether or not to start HRT for yourself, nobody else can do that for you. Good luck in whatever you decide. I would say at a minimum discuss starting a HRT regimen with at least one other physician.
Another option open to you is having an orchiechtomy if you are comfortable with that thought. It will curb your testosterone production, and you would be able to take minimal amounts of estrogen to continue your transition. --------------------  |

Before making a decision, ask for the numbers - how much risk in your particular group (age, race, fitness, progesterone levels, etc) - at a particular dose (ie., the dose per Kg you are interested in).
ETA - And don't use your "friend's" services, since that friend would not monitor your physiology/health over time. -------------------- Man, look at my cat avatar!
